Fun Events in San Diego

San Diego, California, is one of the largest cities in southern California and has a warm climate all year long. There is plenty of opportunity to have fun as a family or even with a significant other or by yourself. San Diego is one place that you can have a lot of fun for less. Here are some of the events that you can enjoy without spending a lot of money in and around the San Diego area.

Julian Apple Festival

The Julian Apple Festival takes place in Julian and is free for the entire family. It takes place in during the first two weeks of November when the apples are harvested. In addition to getting a taste of some of the most delicious Julian apples that are grown in this region, you can also taste apple pie and cider as well as enjoy entertainment. Julian is well worth visiting for the annual apple festival.

Mother Goose Parade

The annual Mother Goose parade is something that kicks off the holidays for the younger children. This event takes place the Saturday before Thanksgiving every year and includes a parade in East County that includes floats with the Mother Goose theme, horse, bands and clowns. This is an ideal, free parade for the kids.

Annual Holiday Of Lights Drive Through Show

If you are looking for the largest animated light show in the west coast, you have found it at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. There is a fee per car, but you get to drive through 400 different displays of lights at the fairgrounds. This event is held from Thanksgiving Day until the day after New Year's Day. It is an ideal way to celebrate the holidays with your family and the cost is only a nominal fee per car.
